Reliable and affordable energy is essential to Sri Lanka’s economic growth, industrial development and competitiveness.
As the country works to strengthen energy security while cutting fossil fuel dependence, energy will be a key focus at the Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Summit (SLEIS) 2026.
Organised by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, SLEIS 2026 takes place on October 12-13, 2026.
The session “Beyond Fossil Dependence: Balancing Security, Sustainability and Growth” will explore how Sri Lanka can diversify its energy sources, accelerate renewable energy adoption, and attract investment — all while ensuring reliable supply.
Discussions will also cover the infrastructure and policy frameworks needed for the country’s shift to a modern, competitive energy system.
International Finance Corporation Regional Infrastructure Industry Manager for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, Edore Onomakpome, will deliver the keynote and join a panel featuring Energy Ministry Secretary G.M.R.D. Aponsu, Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Director General and CEO Damitha Kumarasinghe, and WindForce PLC Managing Director Manjula Perera. The session will be moderated by Plus94 Senior Advisor Sheran Fernando.
The panel will also explore public-private collaboration in developing new energy solutions and driving investment across Sri Lanka’s evolving energy sector.
